It started on a quiet Monday morning at Wofa Ventures. Adjoa, the team’s administrative assistant, had just finished setting up the conference room for the weekly staff meeting when an idea struck her. The team had been looking stressed and distant lately, each person buried in their work and rarely sharing a laugh. Adjoa wanted to change that.
During the meeting, as everyone exchanged updates, Adjoa presented a small, clear jar with a bright yellow ribbon tied around its neck.
“This,” she said with a wide grin, “is our new positivity jar. Think of it as a place to deposit good vibes. Anytime you notice someone doing something kind or awesome, write it on a piece of paper and drop it in. No compliments are too small. We’ll read them all during Friday’s lunch break.”
The room fell silent for a moment. Kwame, the sales manager, raised an eyebrow. “So, like… we’re supposed to play cheerleaders now?”
“Exactly!” Adjoa replied, undeterred. “It’ll be fun. And we could all use a little extra positivity, don’t you think?”
Reluctantly, the team agreed. Adjoa placed the jar in the breakroom, alongside a stack of colorful sticky notes and pens. For the first few days, the jar sat lonely and empty. But on Wednesday afternoon, things changed.
Adjoa noticed the first note folded neatly in the jar. She resisted the urge to peek and instead waited patiently until Friday. By lunchtime, the jar had accumulated five notes—a modest start, but a start nonetheless.
As the team gathered in the breakroom that Friday, Adjoa ceremoniously shook the jar and began reading the notes aloud:
“Big shoutout to Kwame for staying late to help with the presentation on Tuesday. You saved us!”
“Ama’s baked goods on Wednesday were amazing! Can we all agree she should start a bakery?”
“Kofi’s jokes keep me sane during long days. Keep ‘em coming.”
“Adjoa, you’re the glue that keeps this team together. Thanks for always having our backs.”
“To whoever keeps restocking the coffee pods—you’re a hero.”
By the time Adjoa finished, the room was filled with laughter and warm smiles. Even Kwame, who had been skeptical, admitted, “Alright, I’ll admit, this is kinda nice.”
Over the weeks, the positivity jar became a cherished tradition. The notes multiplied, and so did the camaraderie. Team members began going out of their way to notice the good in each other. They started celebrating not just big wins but the little things that often went unnoticed.
Months later, during a particularly hectic project, the positivity jar became a source of comfort and motivation. Whenever someone felt overwhelmed, they’d reach for a note to remind themselves of the support and kindness surrounding them.
Adjoa’s simple idea had transformed Wofa Ventures. The team wasn’t just working together anymore—they were rooting for each other, one sticky note at a time.
